The reason for the visit is not yet known.
Earlier, on Nov 26, a civil society delegation had met the President and sought his intervention to resolve the current political standoff between the ruling and the Opposition coalitions.
Led by Gono Forum President Dr. Kamal Hossain, the six-member civil society delegation had included former caretaker government advisers Sultana Kamal, Akbar Ali Khan, Jamilur Reza Chowdhury, lawyer Shahdeen Malik and Sushasoner Jonno Nagorik (Sujon) General Secretary Badiul Alam Mojumder.
