Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MA Salam's court on Thursday turned
down the police plea for a 20-day remand in two cases involving the
torching of vehicles.
Khoka was arrested from the city's Uttara area on Wednesday night.
Police had sought his remand for 10 days in each of the two arson cases filed with the Shahbagh and Ramna police stations.
The court also scrapped police's remand and Khoka's bail pleas in the Ramna arson case.
The prosecution sought the former Dhaka City Corporation Mayor's bail saying he was 'ill'.
However, the court rejected Khoka's bail plea in both cases.
Judge Islam termed the Shahbagh arson a 'serious one' and said the accused could be quizzed to find out who were behind it.
Nineteen passengers had suffered burn injuries when a Molotov cocktail was hurled at a bus at Shahbagh on Nov 28. Three of the injured have died while undergoing treatment.
Shahbagh police sued 17 top BNP leaders including Khoka over the incident.
On Nov 30, Opposition activists had hurled Molotov cocktail at a bus.
The driver lost control and drove onto the footpath. Khoka was
implicated in a case filed over the incident at the Ramna Police
Station.The BNP-led 18-Party alliance has been agitating for a non-party government to supervise the general elections.
It called a four-day blockade on Nov 26, rejecting the polls schedule. Since then, at least 50 people have reportedly died in blockade-related violence.
