Top 5 BNP leaders bail denied

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Thursday rejected bail to five top BNP leaders, including Barrister Moudud Ahmed, in two cases filed with Motijheel Police Station.

Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Jahurul Haque passed the order in the afternoon.

Earlier in the day, the further hearing on bail petition of five top BNP leaders, including Barrister Moudud Ahmed, was held in the two cases.

But, the accused were not produced before the court.

On November 21, the hearing on bail petition of the leaders was held but the court fixed Thursday for further hearing.

Former attorney AJ Mohammad Ali, Supreme Court Lawyers Association general secretary Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokan, Supreme Court Bar Association president Joynul Abedin, Dhaka Bar president Advocate Sanaullah Mia stood for the accused.

On Monday, Dhaka Bar Association president Advocate Sanaullah Mia filed the bail petition for the five BNP leaders with the court.

On November 8, police held the BNP leaders from various spots of the capital.
